Proudly Mexican

In pre-Hispanic Mexico, chili was the most highly prized spice among priests, nobles, and kings. The sauce obtained by grinding chili was so highly regarded that it was forbidden to consume it as penance before religious ceremonies.

The cultivation of chili has its origins in the American continent. Through archaeobotanical studies, it is known that chili has been a part of Mexican cuisine for several millennia. Chili is an ingredient that flavors, colors, and adds taste to international Mexican gastronomy.

Preserving and commercializing this culinary tradition was the task of Don Manuel Maciel Méndez, the founder of Tamazula Sauce, a company born in 1960 as a family business in Guadalajara, Jalisco, dedicated to the preparation of traditional Tamazula Sauce. The acceptance of this flavor was so great that over the years, Tamazula Sauce introduced new brands, Valentina Sauce and Costa Brava, into the national market, thereby gaining leadership in the field of hot sauces.
