In Fuego del corazón, Luis José Ramírez Cortés condenses bodily fragments, symbols, and luminous colors into a powerful composition that explores the inner fire of the human being. Hands, feet, facial elements, and an open heart appear to float weightlessly within the pictorial space. They detach from the body yet remain emotionally connected—like memories, sensations, and experiences that shape human existence.
The central heart motif, surrounded by warm yellows, oranges, and reds, radiates as a source of energy and life. It symbolizes passion, vulnerability, and emotional intensity. The fragmented body parts can be read as expressions of inner conflict, but also as signs of movement, transformation, and vitality. Small red blossoms or sparks reinforce the impression of a pulsating inner fire.
Characteristic of the Códigos Mexicanos series, Ramírez Cortés weaves personal and collective visual symbols into a contemporary, expressive formal language. His works draw on elements of everyday life, cultural symbols, and emotional states, translating them into visual codes that remain open to individual interpretation. Fuego del corazón thus speaks of love, pain, strength, and the unceasing energy of life within the Mexican context.
The Mexican artist from Oaxaca has devoted himself passionately to art since his youth. After completing his Fine Arts degree at the Academy of San Carlos, he pursued postgraduate studies in printmaking at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. His works have been shown in national and international exhibitions as well as at major art biennials. Today, Luis José Ramírez Cortés collaborates with Mexhaus/Ramirez Handels and presents original works on the theme “Everyday Life in Mexico.”
